Key West Offshore Fishing

Once again we had windy conditions here in Key West. The water temp outside the reef is about 77 and a little warmer inside the reef. The current was moving pretty good to the east and there was a slight color change stacking up bait and fish.

Offshore the Dolphin bite was OK. It was not as good as the previous…

Lower Keys Inshore Fishing

This past week’s weather has been like a rollercoaster, windy days followed by warm calm conditions, and then the cool wind again. Such inconsistent conditions seem to be frustrating our tarpon as well as our flat’s guides. I have yet to see any epic spring tarpon fishing like I have during this time in past years. I think this year’s…

Bob Wilmouth and friends came to Key West in search of the elusive Sailfish.  Unfortunately, they chose the same week as the World Sailfish Tournament so getting bait could have been a big problem (live bait goes for upward of $1,500 a day) but fortunately for us, we had Capt. Steve catching bait for us!

After throwing a variety of live…

Tarpon have been roaming the flats as of late in small pods on the Atlantic side and in some areas of the sandy Gulf side flats. That action should really heat up during the next several weeks as the waters warm into the 80’s. We recently helped to conduct the Bonefish Census…

Lower Keys Inshore Fly Fishing

What a great week for the flats, permit are everywhere, tarpon are laying up, and bonefish are feeding hard. While we have had inconsistent wind speeds, the fish have yet to skip a beat. Despite the few gusty days we received the water remained gin clear in the areas that mattered, seeing that lets you know everything is working as…
