Columbus Would Have Been Proud!!
October 13th, 2008Charles Smith and family drove down from the Panhandle of Florida for a little family get a way. The Keys are a beautiful drive, at least the first time, but definitely leave some extra time for the line-up of traffic you will usually find over a holiday weekend. I would never suggest drinking and driving, but there are so many great tiki bars, mom/pop restaurants and seafood diners to die for that the extra drive time will be worth a few stops in between islands just to soak up the local flavor. May I suggest the conch fritters or the fresh Dolphin sandwich?
Speaking of Dolphin sandwiches, check out Charles and company putting the steel to the trophy size Mahi-mahi. We first headed to the reef for some Barracuda action, then as we headed offshore in search of blue water species, we came across a huge floating board and managed to box three trophy-sized Dolphin. Then off to even deeper water for Tuna. Flat calm water, not too hot and a beautiful sunset. Great eats. Great picture, and great video! Now with YouTube, you are there!
