Fishing Improves as Water Warms
February 28th, 2009The gulf is still holding Spanish mackerel. I have been fishing for the Spanish for a couple of hours. Then moving to some structure; I would catch some mangrove snappers for diner. On our last trip we also caught a 20 pound jewfish on 12# test line.
On the other side of the bridges the sailfish has slow down a bit. The kingfish has picked up with some larger fish being caught; most of the fish are under 10 pounds. The wrecks and ledges are holding amberjacks.
