Sometimes, This Game is Easy!

May 16th, 2009

Blake Glass and friends booked a charter aboard the Mr. Z for a bachelor party just to get out and catch a few fish.  They weren’t new at this game and did some research online before hand.  One of the big deciders was whether we wasted a big chunk of their trip catching live bait.  I assured them that it would only take a  moment to reach into the freezer and come up with all the bait we would need to make their trip.  And we did!

From the beginning of the trip, Mahi Mahi were thick feeding right out of our tailpipes and then we caught and released a 7 foot Sailfish.  If you have a good mate that can rig a proper bait, you don’t need to fool with live bait.  Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have a 16 foot wide boat, 43 foot outriggers, and smooth running motors to put out a bait spread that will bring ‘em in from 100 yards away…

Some of the group are re-deploying back to Iraq.  Stay safe guys!
